Verbena is the general name for two culinary herbs, varvain and lemon ver-bena. The particular quality of these herbs is their delicate aroma and lemon-flavoured leaves. Lemon verbena, in particular, is used in the preparation of TISANES, which are said to have sedative and digestive properties. Two or three fresh or dried leaves added to the pot will give tea an added zest, and the leaves may also be used to flavour fruit drinks} salads and desserts. Lemon verbena is also sometimes used as a substitute for lemon grass or grated lemon rind.
