Pastry Blender

A pastry blender is a useful implement which is used to cut fats into flour for pastry-making. It consists of strips of thick wire or sharp metal, shaped in a semi-circle and joined at each end to a wooden or plastic handle.

The advantages of using a pastry blender rather than your fingertips to blend the fat into the flour are that it keeps the handling of the dough to a minimum, and is less messy.
