Seborrhea is caused by an excessive discharge of the sebaceous glands resulting in abnormally oily skin, often with yellowish, greasy scales.

Only very small amounts of Vitamin B2 (riboflavin) are synthesized by intestinal bacteria. This vitamin is essential for maintaining healthy skin.

Good food sources of B2 are:

– yeast

– liver and kidney

– wheat germ

– cheese

– oily fish

– oleaginous fruit

– egg yolk

Note that Vitamin B2 is altered by light. Being B2 deficient can cause seborrhea, or aggravate an existing condition.

Also make sure you’re getting enough Vitamin B8. Good sources are:

– liver, kidney

– egg yolk

– chocolate, peanuts

– split peas

– brewer’s yeast

– mushrooms
