If you are unusually agitated or nervous for no apparent reason, you may be taking too much synthetic Vitamin C supplements. Taken at night, Vitamin C can prevent you from sleeping.

Increase your intake of natural Vitamin C by eating more fruits and vegetables, and reduce your intake of synthetic Vitamin C (after obtaining your doctor’s permission). If synthetic Vitamin C has been prescribed for therapeutic reasons, nervous agitation may be the price you have to pay to remain healthy!


A diet that deprives you of sugars more or less completely can cause chronic nervousness.

Lithium us often prescribed to treat psychological and emotional problems like nervousness, anxiety, irritability, aggression, mood swings, etc. Good sources of natural lithium include whole grains and seeds.

Extreme nervousness can also be caused by a cobalt deficiency.

Strict vegetarians (vegans) who eat no animal products whatso ever (no milk, eggs, fish, etc.) are much more likely to lack cobalt, which in turn often causes a Vitamin B12 deficiency. If you are a vegetarian, you should consider taking supplements of these two nutrients.

In its natural state cobalt is mainly found in foods of animal origin: meat, seafood, milk and dairy products.

Avocados are recommended for treating ulcers caused by general nervousness.
