A julep is a long, cool, sweet, alcoholic drink, usually flavoured with mint leaves. The name is said to be derived from the ancient Persian drink -jidap – but the drink is thought to have come from the Southern United States.

Juleps may be made with a variety of bases – bourbon whisky, brandy or rum – but the most popular and well-known of all juleps is the MINT JULEP, with a whisky base.
