Health Benefits of Grapefruit

– Rich in Vitamin C, grapefruit also helps prevent arteriosclerosis. According to a study conducted at the University of Florida, grapefruit can dislodge existing deposits in veins and arteries.

– Grapefruit lowers cholesterol levels, and like all citrus fruit, helps prevent cancer. A Swedish study conducted in 1986 showed that people who eat citrus fruit (and carrots) every day are much less likely to develop cancer, especially stomach and pancreatic cancer.

– Persons on weight loss diets should eat grapefruit, since it is diuretic and helps drain the liver.

– Eat the pulp or press into juice. Drink before or after (not with) meals.
