Furnishing of the Guests Room

The same remarks regarding the furnishing of the guest s room apply to the other bedrooms, excepting that the secretaire may be dispensed with. Three-cornered wardrobes are wonderful space-savers. Everything must invite and entice rest.

In fairly large houses it is customary to provide the maid or maids with a sitting-room. This is not always possible, but on the score of the girls health and comfort it is a wise provision. Anything that will contribute to the happiness of the household is not an extravagance but an economy. When such an arrangement is impracticable, everything possible should be done to transform the kitchen into a living-room by a liberal supply of closed dressers and cupboards in which the apparatus of housekeeping may be placed out of sight.
