Dr W H Fitzgerald, the founder of reflexology, divided the body vertically into ten zones and isolated the acupressure points within them . Pressure applied creates changes throughout the entire body. Whereas reflexology uses points on the feet, a zone therapist works throughout the whole system, using reflex areas all over the body. Pressure is applied to a point corresponding to an organ elsewhere. For example, there is an acupoint on the inner forearm just below the wrist, used for nausea and motion sickness . Both the fingers and the toes have several points that help the head area, and pressure on the medial edge of the little finger will relieve headaches and a stiff neck. The hand reflexes mirror the position of those on the feet, and are very convenient for self-help treatment.
