It is of immense benefit for a complementary medical practitioner to know the individual patient’s ability to digest foods. Many conditions may be associated with deficiencies that may be due to a lack of digestive capability rather than insufficient ingestion of a particular compound that is deficient. The orthodox world pays little attention to this factor and, until recently, practitioners of complementary medicine had to use their clinical judgment and experience to assess the possibility that a patient is not digesting properly. A non-invasive test that involves the patient doing no more than swallowing a particular fluid to assess digestive capabilities and enzyme production is available at this stage, but patients need to visit the laboratory in London and there is currently limited availability and a long waiting list. Availability will, hopefully, become greater. Practitioners rather than patients should contact The 101 Group for information if they feel a patient would benefit.
