This hormone, found in most cells in the body, is thought to be responsible for maintaining a cell’s ability to repair and maintaining its integrity. Its action is possibly by mediating the permeability of the cell wall to glucose.

This hormone is now extracted and manufactured and is being touted as a potential elixir of youth. Doctors who have researched it and those who stand to benefit from its sales are adamant about its safety and efficacy. So were the doctors who invented thalidomide! My view is that, until further studies are done, this drug should only be taken under the care of a physician who genuinely believes in the curative properties of DHEA, not so much because it will make the drug safer but they are liable to know of the most recent reports. I am sure that DHEA has its place but at the moment not as broadly as certain sources would have us believe.
