Sorrel is a perennial herb of the knotweed family. It has a strong, slightly bitter flavour and grows in temperate climates throughout northern Europe.
Sorrel leaves are cooked in the same way as SPINACH and used as a vegetable or in soups. As a flavouring, finely chopped sorrel is used in small quantities in salads or savoury dishes.
