Hardy plants suitable for cultivation in the border, on margins of the shrubbery, or for cold frame culture.

Plant in April in a compost of sandy peat and leaf-mould. They like a partially-shaded spot, and plenty of water in dry weather. During the colder weather a protection of coconut fibre refuse or litter is advisable. Increase by division of the roots in April.

S. Uniflora drangijlora is a variety bearing pink, bell-shaped flowers with glossy foliage. The flowers appear in May. Height 4 in.

S. galacifolia has pearly-white flowers.

The autumn foliage turns to bronze- crimson. The flowers appear in May and June. Height 4 in.
