Seasoned sale makes an interesting alternative to ordinary salt, especially when it is served with salad. It should be stored in dry, airtight jars or bottles.

1 tablespoon celery seeds
1 tablespoon dried thyme
2 tablespoons salt
1 tablespoon ground mace
1 tablespoon paprika
2 teaspoons mustard seeds
1 teaspoon sugar
Place all the ingredients in a mortar or small mixing bowl and crush them with a pestle or the end of a wooden rolling pin until they are finely ground and well mixed.
Pour the mixture through a funnel into small, sterilized jars or bottles. Cover and store in a cool, dry place.
