As well as being the name of a classic cake, pastis (pass-tees) is also a French aniseed-flavoured liqueur, very similar in both appearance and taste to the Greek ouzo. Pastis, like ouzo, is usually diluted with water which makes it cloudy.

Pastis is particularly popular in the South of France.
