A favourite with children, Nut and Choc-olate Cookies are easy to make.
4 oz. plus
2 teaspoons butter
2 oz. soft brown sugar
8 oz. flour, sifted
2 tablespoons golden syrup
3 oz. almonds, chopped
4 tablespoons chocolate chips
Preheat the oven to moderate 350 F (Gas Mark 4, 180 C). With the 2 teaspoons of butter, grease two baking sheets. Set aside. In a medium-sized mixing bowl, cream the remaining butter and the sugar
Serve Nut and Chocolate Cookies as a snack with a glass of milk. together with a wooden spoon until the mixture is light and fluffy. With a metal spoon, gradually fold in the flour. Mix in the syrup, almonds and chocolate chips.
Using your hands, form the mixture into walnut-sized balls. Place the balls on the greased baking sheets, spaced well apart. With a fork, slightly flatten the balls.
Place the baking sheets in the oven and bake for 15 to 20 minutes, or until the biscuits are golden brown.
Remove the baking sheets from the oven and transfer the biscuits to a wire rack. Allow the biscuits to cool completely before serving.
