Norvegienne, a la

A la Norvegienne (nohr-vay-jee-ehn) is a name given to various dishes, but most commonly it is used to describe a dessert like BAKED ALASKA which is ice-cream on a sponge base, covered with meringue or an omelet souffle mixture and set in a hot oven.

The name is also used to describe certain cold fish and seafood dishes.
