Noodles with Ham

A quick supper dish, Noodles with Ham may be sprinkled with grated Parmesan cheese.just before serving. Serve the noodles with a dish of creamed or chopped spinach.


1 lb. noodles, cooked, drained and kept warm

2 oz. butter, cut into small pieces

2 teaspoon salt

2 teaspoon black pepper

1 teaspoon dried basil

2 oz. proscuitto, cut into thin strips

6 oz. cooked lean ham, cut into thin strips

1 small garlic sausage, cut into thin strips

2 large tomatoes, blanched, peeled, seeded and cut into strips

1 butter, melted

4 oz. mushrooms, wiped clean and chopped

½ teaspoon dried basil

½ teaspoon dried marjoram

½ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

Preheat the oven to warm 325°F (Gas Mark 3, 170°C).

Place the noodles in a deep ovenproof serving dish and pour over the butter. Sprinkle the mushrooms, basil, marjoram and pepper over the noodles and, using two forks, toss the noodles until they are coated with the butter and the mushrooms are evenly distributed. Cover the dish with aluminium foil and place it in the oven. Bake the noodles for 20 minutes.

Remove the dish from the oven and serve immediately.
