A potent cocktail from Italy, Negroni is traditionally served in tall glasses with ice cubes.
8 fl. oz. Italian vermouth
4 fl. oz. Campari
4 fl. oz. gin or vodka
8 ice cubes
6 fl. oz. soda water
4 orange or lemon slices
Chill 4 tall glasses in the refrigerator for 30 minutes.
Pour the vermouth, Campari and gin or vodka into a chilled cocktail shaker. Screw on the lid and shake vigorously for 30 seconds.
Remove the glasses from the refriger-ator. Place two of the ice cubes in each glass. Pour in the cocktail. Add equal amounts of the soda water, top with the orange or lemon slices and serve.
