Mineral water comes from natural springs which arise from under the ground. They contain valuable minerals and are either still or effervescent. The effervescence results from the water flowing through limestone rock.
If bottled at source, mineral water is said to have medicinal qualities. During the last century, people flocked to min- eral baths and spas in the hope of curing their various ailments. Mineral water is now regaining popularity among people concerned about the chemicals in tap water, particularly in the United States.
