There are many different kinds of milk-shakes, ranging from a simple combina-tion of milk and fruit syrup, to a mixture of milk, powdered malt, ice-cream and fruit syrup or fresh fruit.
The easiest way to make milkshakes at home is in an electric blender, but they can be made successfully by placing the ingredients in a large mixing bowl and whisking to a froth with a wire whisk or rotary beater.
Put 10 fluid ounces of milk, 6 fluid ounces of chocolate icecream, 2 fluid ounces of chocolate syrup and, if you like, 2 tablespoons of powdered malt in a large mixing bowl. With a wire whisk or rotary beater whisk all the ingredients together until the mixture is thick and frothy.
Alternatively blend the ingredients in an electric blender. Pour the milkshake into serving glasses and serve immed- iately.

Use 2 teaspoons of instant coffee, 6 fluid ounces of coffee ice-cream and 10 fluid ounces of milk.
