Locust Bean

Locust bean, another name for the CAROB pod, is the fruit of a leguminous Mediterranean tree. It is also called St. John’s

Bread as it is said that he ate carob pods in the wilderness and not locusts as is commonly believed. Though mainly used as stock feed, the locust bean can be eaten by man especially in times of famine.
