A Russian dish, Kutya (kooh-tyah) is traditionally served on Christmas Eve. This sweet dish is also served at a meal after a Russian Orthodox funeral.
8 oz. cooked long-grain rice
4 tablespoons clear honey
4 oz. raisins
2-| oz. unblanched almonds, ‘ flaked
1 tablespoon poppy seeds
In a medium-sized bowl, combine the rice and honey. Stir to coat the rice grains evenly. Stir in the raisins and almond flakes.
Turn the mixture into a serving dish and sprinkle the poppy seeds on top. Place in the refrigerator to chill or serve immediately.
