The handle of a kettle can be quickly encased in thick string which will prevent it burning the hand when grasped. The string should be quite inch thick. Lay the string along the handle to a point rather farther than the binding is to go, and bend it back to the point at which wrapping is to begin. Then wind it tightly over the two plies until the end of the loop is almost reached.
The string is now passed through the loop and drawn in under the wrapping by means of the projecting part at the other end. Trim off the superfluous string neatly, and the wrapping is complete.
