Hungarian Cheese Dip

This delicious spread made from cream cheese, butter, paprika and peppers may be used as a dip for vegetables, biscuits or meat. It makes a most attractive party dish.

1 lb. soft cream cheese

8 oz. unsalted butter, softened

21 teaspoons salt

1 teaspoon black pepper

2 teaspoons prepared mustard

3 teaspoons paprika

6 fl. oz. double cream

2 tablespoons finely chopped fresh chives 1 small red pepper, white pith removed, seeded and finely diced 1 small green pepper, white pith removed, seeded and finely diced

In a large mixing bowl, beat the cream cheese with a wooden spoon until it is soft and fluffy. Add the butter, salt, pepper, mustard, paprika and cream and beat thoroughly until all the ingredients are blended. Alternatively, the ingredients can be blended in an electric blender.

Stir in the chives and red and green peppers and mix well.

Spoon the mixture into a serving bowl. Place it in the refrigerator to chill for 1 hour before serving.
