A popular drink often used for medicinal purposes, Hot Toddy is easy to make and just the thing to drink before going to bed if you have a heavy cold – although it is delicious at any time!
ABOUT
15 FLUID OUNCES
10 fl. oz. water
5 fl. oz. whisky or brandy
1 teaspoon lemon juice
2 strips lemon rind
1 teaspoon ground allspice or mixed spice
2 tablespoons light brown sugar
Place all the ingredients in a small heavy saucepan. Set the pan over low heat and cook, stirring frequently, for 6 to 8 minutes, or until the sugar has dissolved and the mixture is very hot.
Remove the pan from the heat. Remove and discard the lemon strips. Pour the drink into a small, warmed jug and serve immediately.
