Hawaiian Sauce is a delicious, creamy coconut sauce to serve with hot or cold desserts.
ABOUT
10 FLUID OUNCES
1 oz. or
½ inch slice creamed coconut
1 fl. oz. water grated rind of
1 orange grated rind of
1 lemon
2 tablespoons soft brown sugar
½ teaspoon ground mixed spice or ground allspice 10 fl. oz. single cream
In a small saucepan, dissolve the creamed coconut in the water over low heat. Add the orange and lemon rinds, sugar and spice and cook, stirring occasionally, for 15 minutes.
Pour in the cream and stir to mix. Heat thoroughly but do not let the sauce boil.
Remove the pan from the heat. Pour the sauce through a fine wire strainer into a warmed sauceboat. Serve hot or warm.
