Haroset

There are many variations of this symbolic Jewish sweet which is always included in the Seder, the meal served on Passover eve. Basically it is a paste of pounded fruit and nuts, moistened with red wine. Two versions of haroset are given below; neither require cooking and the proportions of the ingredients are very much a matter of personal taste.
