Ham Steaks with Barbecue Sauce

Ham Steaks with Barbecue Sauce makes a simple, tasty family supper dish. The barbecue sauce may be made in advance and stored in a covered container in the refrigerator. Serve the dish with sweet-corn and baked potatoes.

1 tablespoon butter

4 ham or gammon steaks,

1 J-inches thick, trimmed of fat

A

1 tablespoon vegetable oil

8 button mushrooms, wiped clean and stalks removed

4 large firm tomatoes, halved

8 fl. oz. hot Barbecue Sauce

Preheat the grill to high.

With the butter, grease the grill pan and lay the ham steaks on it. Using a pastry brush, brush a little oil on to the mushrooms. Place the tomatoes and mushrooms around the meat. Place the pan under the heat and grill the meat for 3 to 5 minutes on each side or until it is cooked.

Remove the steaks and the vegetables from the pan and arrange them on a warmed serving dish. Pour over the barbecue sauce and serve immediately.
