Toast spread with.a garlic and bechamel sauce mixture and then grilled , Garlic Toast makes a tasty snack savoury.
6 garlic cloves, peeled
1 tablespoon butter
1 tablespoons thick bechamel sauce slices of toast
1 oz. fresh white breadcrumbs
Half-fill a small saucepan with water and bring it to the boil over high heat. Add the garlic cloves and boil them for 2 minutes.
Drain the garlic cloves and when they are cool enough to handle, crush them in a garlic press or with a pestle in a mortar.
In a small saucepan, melt the butter over moderate heat. When the foam subsides, add the crushed garlic. Cover the pan and simmer gently for 3 minutes.
Preheat the grill to high.
Remove the pan from the heat and stir in the bechamel sauce.
Thinly spread the mixture over the slices of toast and sprinkle over the breadcrumbs.
Place the slices under the grill and grill for 3 to 4 minutes or until the top is lightly browned. Serve at once.
