Chayote

A large, green fruit of the gourd family, the chayote has a firm, white flesh with a delicate and distinctive flavour. It

is cooked in a variety of ways, to be served as a vegetable or to be added to soups. If it is cooked with sugar and fresh

lime juice, the flavour of the chayote is very similar to stewed apples.
