Capillaire is a flavouring’ syrup for punches and cocktails, originally made by boiling maidenhair fern in sweetened

water. The name capillaire is derived from the French for this fern. The syrup can also be made from water, sugar, eggs, and orange-flower water, lemon essence, or bitter almonds.
