ATTORNEY, POWER OF

A legal arrangement made between two people in which A gives B the power to act for him in money matters, such as the spending of money, signing cheques, &c. Powers of attorney are frequently arranged for persons proceeding abroad for an indefinite time, and many soldiers gave Powers of Attorney to their wives before going on active service in the late war.
