Asperula

Herbaceous plants, mostly grown as carpet plants in the rock garden. Plant in late autumn in light rich soil in a shady position.

Sow seeds J-in. Deep in April. Also increase by division of roots in March.

A. Gussonii has mossy cushions, and pink flowers. May. Height 3-in. (Kings Spear). These plants are most suitable for border plants, while the fragrant yellow flowera make excellent indoor decoration. They will thrive in rich loamy soil. Increase by division of roots in spring. Seeds may also be sown under glass, although increasing in this manner is very slow as the flowers will not appear for some years. Height 3-4 ft.
