ALERNATIVE TREATMENT FOR BRONCHITIS

Bronchitis is inflammation of the bronchial tree . It can be acute or chronic .

Acute bronchitis

Often created by viral or bacterial infections, acute bronchitis can be associated with colds and flu. The symptoms are irritation, with cough and often pain. The bronchitis may be dry or productive and, as a rule of thumb, if the sputum is clear the problem is viral and if it is coloured it is bacterial or fungal. Please note that this is not always the case.

RECOMMENDATIONS

Beta-carotene, 2mg per foot of height in divided doses with three meals per day.

Vitamin C, 2g with each meal.

Zinc, 15mg at night.

Consult a homeopathic manual for the best remedies concurring with your symptoms.

With persistence of symptoms over a week, symptoms that disrupt sleep or your lifestyle and any sign of blood in the product, please go to see your complementary practitioner.

Avoid the use of antibiotics unless a sputum culture is carried out. This is because many bronchitis attacks are viral and antibiotics may make the situation worse.

Herbal drinks or steam inhalations with the essential oils of the following can be very beneficial: hyssop, mullein, thyme, squill and especially lobelia. Seven drops of any of these in water may be drunk and can be most relieving. Make sure first that the product is suitable for internal use.

Acupuncture can be instantly relieving.

Chronic bronchitis

Chronic bronchitis is usually associated with persisting lung infections, often found in smokers or people subjected to airborne industrial pollutants such as asbestos. Here the inflammation has become deep-seated and usually bacterial infection abounds. The true definition of chronic bronchitis is a productive cough lasting for more than three months.

RECOMMENDATIONS

All the aspects of treatment in acute bronchitis can be utilized.

In addition, learn a breathing technique and consider regular treatment from a physiotherapist for air passage clearing, and a Shiatsu practitioner for chest-opening bodywork.

The practice of yoga and Qi Gong is very rewarding.
